The SMT372T is a Multicore DSP TIM. It features two TMS320C6472 Multicore DSP processors and a Virtex-5 FX30T FPGA node.

What is the "processing power" of the SMT372T?

The SMT372T features two TMS320C6472 Multicore DSP processors, as well as one Virtex-5 FX30T FPGA with one embedded PowerPC 440 processor core.

How much external memory is available?

The SMT372T features 512 MBytes of fast external memory. There is 256 MBytes of DDR2 SDRAM memory directly connected to each 'C6472 Multicore DSP processors.

What are the different memory areas available on the TMS320C6472 Multicore DSP processor?

The C6472 DSP chipset has the following three memory areas: L2 @ 0x00800000 608KB on-chip memory (one such area per core), SL2 @ 0x00200000 768KB on-chip memory (shared by all cores), external @ 0xE0000000 256MB external memory (shared by all cores).

Where can I find instructions / videos on how to set up Code Composer 4.x and Xilinx's Impact?

There are videos with written descriptions of these tasks available on the evp6472.com website.

How can I connect a ethernet to the SMT372T

It's possible to connect an SMT562E to the EVP6472. There is a header (RJ1) on the DSP board that has connections ready for this.

For the pin out of the header please see this image:

What do the switches on the SMT372T do?

There is only one set of switches on the SMT372T. Their function is as below:

4:ON 3:ON 2:ON 1:ON = DSP boot from flash (both DSPs)

4:ON 3:ON 2:ON 1:OFF = Re-program flash (6002)

4:ON 3:ON 2:OFF 1:ON = User defined

4:ON 3:ON 2:OFF 1:OFF = Diamond

How can I connect the Xilinx JTAG to my board?

There are two methods of connecting Xilinx JTAG to your SMT372T board. There is the small header JP4, but the method we recommend is to use the SMT568VC1 cable / connector. If you bought your SMT372T as part of a system, you should have this cable / extender already. The red wire plugs directly into your Xilinx pod.

How can I change the LVDS (or FPGA I/O) voltage for this board?

The LVDS or FPGA I/O voltage on this board is set by jumpers JP1 and JP2

For 3.3V set the jumpers both on pins 1-2.

For 2.5V set them to 2-3.

How can I get SMT6002 access for my SMT372T?

If you need to get access to the on-board flash though SMT6002, and the current firmware in your board doesn't allow this (if it is custom firmware or is corrupted for example), you can follow these steps to enable access.

With the board off, change the switches on SW1[1234] to [OFF OFF ON OFF].

Using your Xilinx pod, program the FPGA with "top_FX30.bit" or "top_FX70.bit" depending on your FPGA type.

You should now be able to run SMT6002 and program the flash.

You can get "top_FX30.bit" and "top_FX70.bit" in this Zip file recover_SMT372T.zip

Where can I get the default frimware for the SMT372T?

You can download the default firmware for the SMT372T here. This zip file contains both the FX30 and FX70 bitstreams.
