What do the Switches on the SMT101 do?

On the SMT101, the same functionality has been kept as for the SMT100 for switches SW1 and SW2.

It means that to access the flash from the USB (board being powered through the external power supply connector or the PC104 connector - as the flash section on the board is not powered through the USB link), SW1 and SW2 should be set as follows: SW1=ON|ON|ON |OFF and SW2=ON|ON|OFF|OFF. Two FPGA bitstreams can be stored into the on-board flash memory.

Once a bitstream has been stored into flash (implementing a PCI Express interface), the board can boot from the Express bus after a reset. In order to do so, SW1 and SW2 have to be changed as follows: SW1=ON|ON|ON |OFF and SW2=ON|ON|ON |ON. (Bitstream 0) Or SW1=ON|ON|ON |OFF and SW2=ON|ON|OFF|ON. (Bitstream 1)

Note that in the case where only one bitstream is stored into flash, the bitstream selection switch could be ON or OFF.

What is the pin out of the external power connector (JP1)?

The external Power connector (JP1) on the Non-FPGA side of the SMT101 has the following pin out:

Pin 1: +12V (nearest the edge of the board)

Pin 2: +5V

Pin 3: +3.3V


Pin 5: -12V (nearest the edge of the MicroSD socket)
